Sold with the following original documents all named to Catherine Brousse: The American Legion (i) Gold Medal award, ‘... Mrs Catherine Brousse is awarded the American Legion gold medal for having over a long period of years acted in the capacity of librarian of Paris post No.1, and in grateful recognition for the faithful services she has rendered to the American Legion’, dated 18 November 1959; (ii) Certificate of Appreciation, 1964; (iii) Post of Distinction Birthday Award, 47th Anniversary, 1966; (iv) Citation of Appreciation, 1972; (v) Citation of Appreciation (undated); award documents for the: Order of Civil Merit, Silver Medal, 1964; French Society for the Encouragement of Merit, Order of Merit, Chevalier, 1971; Cross of French Merit and Devotion, Officer, 1971; Franco-American Medal of Gratitude 1st Class, 1966; Institute of Music Medal, 1965; Franco-British Association Cross, 1967; Academy of European Arts, Chevalier, 1968 (insignia not included in lot); Association of Polish Combatants in France Cross, Officer, 1967. Together with a photograph of Mrs Brousse in 1971 having just been awarded the French Society for the Encouragement of Merit, Order of Merit, Chevalier. Also with an American Women’s Voluntary Services cap bearing the cloth badges, ‘War Savings Staff AWVS’ and ‘Manhattan’; A.W.V.S. lapel badge, enamelled; two A.W.V.S. buttons and two other metal and three cloth badges.
