Percy Lawrence Cockerill was born in Peckham, Surrey, the son of George E. and Edith Cockerill and the younger brother of George Edward Cockerill. Captain Cockerill, 2nd/16th London Regiment, entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 22 June 1916. He later held the rank of Temporary Major and was attached to the Headquarters Unit as Staff Captain in 1918. For his services in the war, he was twice mentioned in despatches and awarded the Military Cross. Postwar he was a partner of the Stockbroking firm of Grenfell & Co. Sold with copied research.
