Brevet Major J. S. Davenport, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment, served in France/Flanders, 16 August-10 November 1914. He was wounded in action, mentioned in despatches (London Gazette 17 February 1915), awarded the Military Cross and French Croix de Guerre and granted the Brevet of Major. Additionally awarded the 1914 Star, British War and Victory Medals.
