A 1796 pattern heavy cavalry officer’s dress sword, the straight 82cm double edged blade with central groove, remains of blue and gilt decoration incorporating crowned GR cypher, royal arms, stand of arms Britannia etc typical copper-gilt hilt, boat shaped shell-guard, oval pommel, wood grip with twisted copper wire binding, complete with its steel scabbard with two split-ring hanging rings, blade and mounts rather rubbed otherwise good condition £400-500
