A Victorian officer's presentation sword of the 1st. Surrey Rifles, 1822 pattern infantry officers sword the slightly curved blade by Pillin, Gerrard Street, Soho, London, etched with crowned VR cypher, strung bugle and 1st. Surrey Rifles owners initials TFW within a cartouche, a presentation inscription appears within a zig-zagging ribbon 'Presented to T. F. Were, by his comrades in No. 4 Company upon receiving his commission May 1875', regulation brass gothic hilt incorporating VR cypher fish-skin covered grip bound with copper wire, guard retaining its original patent leather liner, complete with its german silver scabbard, some service wear overall, some dents to scabbard edge, otherwise good condition £300-350
