India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Hazara 1891 (1200 Pte. J. Mealan, 1st Bn. R.W.F.) extremely fine £140-180

John Mealan was born in Salford, Lancashire. A Dyer by occupation, he attested for service in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers on 26 October 1885, aged 19 years 8 months, having previously served in the 3rd Battalion Manchester Regiment. With the Fusiliers he served in India, 24 December 1886-13 June 1892, and was awarded the I.G.S. Medal with clasp for Hazara 1891. He was transferred to the Army Reserve in October 1892 and discharged from the services on 25 October 1897. Sold with copied service papers.
