David Barry was born in Cardiff on 21 December 1897. He enrolled into the Royal Naval Reserve on 31 May 1917. Serving as a Deck Hand aboard the armed boarding steamer Louvain in the Eastern Mediterranean, he was killed in action when the ship was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U.C.22. Sailing from Malta, the ship sank with a loss of seven officers and 217 ratings. Sold with copied service papers.
