Prussia, Iron Cross 1870, 2nd Class, with 25th Anniversary oak leaves; Hohenzollern House Order, Knight’s breast badge with swords, silver-gilt and enamel, edge of lower arm marked, ‘S. & W., 937’; War Medal 1870-71, 3 clasps, Gravelotte-St. Privat, Vionville-Mars La Tour, Paris; Officer’s L.S. Cross, for 25 years, gilt, mounted German style as worn, good very fine (4) £600-700

A note with the lot states: ‘The recipient is likely to have been an officer in 5 Cavalry Division, heavily engaged at Vionville. The award of the Iron Cross is probably for this battle’.
