A fine presentation special pattern sword of the Honourable Artillery Company with HM silver scabbard, the straight 79cm flattened diamond section blade by B.Thurkle, 104 High Holborn, London, finely etched for almost its entire length with intricate foliate scrolls a stand of arms the regimental initials ‘HAC’, etc., and within a panel a presentation incscription ‘Presented to Sergeant Kemp by the members of the 4th Company of the Honourable Artillery Company as a mark of esteem’, special pattern regimental pattern copper-gilt hilt, the turned up shell guard applied with a silver flaming grenade, the shell and knucklebow deeply chased with acanthus leaves, oak leaves and scrolls on a fine stippled ground, pommel and ferrule again deeply chased with oakleaves, grip of spirally ribbed ivory bound with copper wire, complete with its solid silver scabbard with HM for Birmingham 1902 and makers mark JRG&S, blade somewhat discoloured overall and with small area of deep pitting near the point, minor denting to scabbard and wood liners defective £1500-2000
