A scarce mameluke, for an Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, 84cm flat solid blade by Pearson Higgins & Co, London, finely etched with crowned EVIIR cypher, foliate scrolls, etc., some areas of rusting but retaining most original finish, white-metal cross guard. the eccusson with applied wreathed crown, polished horn grips set with two rosettes, backstrap engraved with floral designs, complete with its plated scabbard with cruciform mounts, lacking two rosettes from grip. otherwise good condition £250-300
