John Wilfred Carmichael was born in Durban on 18 January 1918. A salesman by occupation, he attested for service with the Kaffrarian Rifles, beyond South Africa, on 27 May 1940. Disembarking at Suez on 11 August 1941, he served in North Africa. Carmichael was taken prisoner on 20 June 1942. Held as a prisoner-of-war in Italy, he died on 20 August 1943, aged 24 years. He was buried in Bari War Cemetery, Italy. He was the son of Janet Carmichael of Rosebank, Cape Town. Sold with copied service papers.

Willem Jacobus Potter was born on 16 December 1919. A Plumber’s Clerk by occupation, he attested for service in the South African Artillery at Johannesburg on 6 March 1940. He disembarked at Port Tewfik for service in North Africa on 11 July 1941. He was taken prisoner-of-war at Tobruk on 20 June 1942. He gained his release on 1 May 1945. Sold with some copied service papers.

Private Pieter Reid, Kimberley Regiment, disembarked at Suez on 24 June 1941. Posted to the Regiment President Styeyn in July, he was taken as a prisoner-of-war on 15 December 1941. He was released on 29 May 1945. Sold with some copied service papers.
