Able Seaman Albert Charles Drayson, Royal Navy, died on 14 December 1940, aged 21 years, when serving on the Free French torpedo boat Branlebas. The ship foundered in heavy weather when operating in the English Channel. Only three of the crew were rescued by the destroyer Mistral. Able Seaman Drayson was the son of Charles Henry William and Caroline Drayson of Lee-on-the-Solent, Hampshire. His name is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial.
