William John Stevens was killed in action in the 2nd Battle of Ypres on 27 April 1915, while serving as a Sergeant Drummer in the 1st Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Aged 39 years, he left a widow, Florence Stevens, of Gascony Avenue, West Hampstead, London.
