Major James Percival Dalemain Wheatley, 1st Cumberland (Howitzer) Battery, 4th East Lancashire (Howitzer) Brigade was awarded the T.D. in 1909 (London Gazette 14 May 1909). As a Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Field Artillery he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war in November 1915.
Captain and Honorary Major James Atkinson Wheatley, 1st Cumberland Artillery, was awarded the V.D. in 1893 (London Gazette 28 February 1893).
