Peter Mitchell was born in Aberdeen. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the Royal Artillery in May 1886, aged 22 years. With the Scottish Divison Royal Artillery he served in India, October 1886-February 1898, being present in the Black Mountain (Hazara) Expedition of 1888 and the Hazara Expedition of 1891. He was discharged in February 1898 but re-enlisted for a further 4 years in May of that year, serving at ‘Home’ from May 1898 to May 1902. Sold with copied service papers and copied extracts from rolls which confirm clasps.
