24th (2nd Warwickshire) Regiment, a fine and very rare Ensign’s full dress scarlet tunic for the period early 1880 to July 1881, the single breasted garment of 1868 pattern having pointed cuffs with green facings, eight buttons to the front, these of 1856 pattern ‘24’ within a scalloped rim (by G. Smith & Son 5 New Burlington St London), the gold laced collar bearing large gilt Sphinx/Egypt badges, two buttons to the rear skirt, the single star rank badges now on the broad gold cord epaulettes introduced March/April 1880, these retained by small size sewn-on gilt buttons, internally sound with standard padding and quilted linings, together with the correct pattern broad crimson shoulder sash, a few moth nips to the front white edging and under one arm, the gold lace dull but sound and the buttons likewise, retains good colour and in very good condition for the period (2) £400-500
