Snape M.M. London Gazette 26 October 1944 (Italy).

Recommendation states: ‘For courageous action and devotion to duty on 27 May 44 during a battalion advance from the Anzio beachhead at Carrocetto. No.3861630 Cpl. Snape, Charles, was Signal Corporal of the Battalion. On this day, A Coy. had commenced the advance, and had taken up positions some thousand yards forward of our F.D.Ls, from where patriols were being sent forward to gain important information. Cpl. Snape laid line to A Coy. immediately the Coy. was established when the area was under heavy shellfire. During the period following this the line was continuously being broken by shellfire and Cpl. Snape repeatedly went out himself and repaired the line. Through his constant work done without any regard for his personal safety good communications were maintained at a time when this was vital to the success of the operation. This action was the culmination of outstanding acts of courage and devotion to duty which have contributed greatly to the success of operations and inspired all members of his platoon’.
