Four: Corporal W. G. Richardson, Royal Canadian Air Force, who served as a Wireless Operator in a High Speed Air Sea Rescue Launch 1943-44

William George Richardson, who enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force at Halifax, Nova Scotia in March 1942, aged 19 years, served as a Wireless Operator aboard the High Speed Rescue Launches Detector and Nictak, both vessels of the Canadian Eastern Air Command Marine Squadron, between April 1943 and May 1944. Either side of this period of engagement he served in other launches on ‘supply and salvage’ operations. Richardson was transferred to the R.C.A.F. Reserve in August 1945.
Sold with a quantity of original documentation, including the recipient’s “R.C.A.F. Record of Time Served on Marine Craft” book, with portrait photograph; R.C.A.F. Certificate of Discharge, dated 30 August 1945; two or three wartime photographs, including High Speed Launches; four E.A.C. Marine Craft service “flimsies”, covering the period April 1943 to September 1944; and some official correspondence regarding the recipient’s campaign medal entitlement, including one confirming his Atlantic Star; together with three cloth uniform badges, including a rare A.S.R. example.
