British Iron Age, BELGAE, Uninscribed issues, gold Stater, British Qa Derivatives [Ladder Mane] type, wreath, cloak and crescent design with two hidden faces, rev. horse right, ladder mane, sun before, wing-like motif and pellet line above, coffee bean motif below tail, eight-spoked wheel below, rings and pellets around, 5.31g/4h (Sills 216 [O1/R2]; CCI 99.1610, same dies; Van Arsdell, SNC April 1992, p.80; ABC 764; BMC –; VA 346-1; S –). Struck on a full pale yellowish gold flan, well-struck and centred, good very fine and extremely rare £4,000-£5,000

Only four other examples are currently listed on both the CCI (93.0145, 03.0292 and 99.1610) and the PAS (BH-785FF3), and out of all these examples, this coin is undoubtedly the finest.
