From 1804, Andrew Gibson was listed as a manufacturer and cotton yarn merchant. He died in 1817.

Merchant Issues - silver, Scotland, RENFREWSHIRE, Lochwinnoch, Andrew Gibson & Co, a MEXICO, Charles IIII, 8 Reales, 1800fm, Mexico City, obv. countermarked a. gibson. & co. lochwinnoch. within circular band around 5/·, 26.91g/12h (Manville 67; Hodge 067S.009a, this coin; KM. CC77). Coin good fine but with minor obverse rim nicks, countermark very fine, extremely rare £3,000-£4,000
