Edward Francis Cockcroft was commissioned into the Brecknockshire Battalion, South Wales Borderers, on 31 July 1908. Advanced Captain, he served in Aden with the 1/1st Battalion from 16 December 1914 before further service in India on garrison duty. Advanced Major, he saw was recalled for further service during the Second War, and also served as a Commandant in the Special Constabulary.
