Austin Lindsay Patrick was born in Glasgow in 1887 and attested for the 9th South African Infantry at Potchefstroom on 11 December 1915. Disembarked with the 4th Regiment at Rouen on 23 October 1917, he was admitted to the 3rd Australian General Hospital on 26 March 1918 suffering from a severe gunshot wound and fracture to the left thigh. He died from this injury a few days later on 29 March 1918 and is buried in the Abbeville Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
