Victor Garland Wright was born in Huddersfield in 1892 and attested for the South African Infantry ay Durban on 25 January 1917. Posted to the Western Front with the 4th Regiment, he was taken Prisoner of War in the spring of 1918 and died of tetanus whilst in German captivity on 27 April 1918. He is buried at Cologne Southern Cemetery, Germany.

Cecil Arthur Cooke was born at Germiston in 1896 and attested for the 4th South African Infantry at Potchefstroom on 25 January 1916. Posted to the Western Front, his service record notes that he was wounded in action on 24 October 1916, and received an accidental injury to the head on 20 January 1917. He later died of diptheria on 6 March 1917 and is buried at Etaples Military Cemetery.

Frederik Henry Kruger was born in Pretoria in 1885 and attested for the South African Infantry at Germiston on 19 December 1917. Recorded as a ‘Dutch Reformer’, he suffered a severe wound to the right shoulder on the Western Front 1 October 1918, spending almost 2 months at Richmond Hospital in recovery. He was discharged at Maitland on 18 December 1919.
