Alexander Lowe was born in Brynmawr, Brecon on 19 March 1897. Educated at Monmouth School, he attested into the Brecknockshire Battalion, South Wales Borderers in August 1915, and served during the Great War on the Western Front, attached to the 10th Battalion, from 1 July 1917. He was killed in action at Armentieres on 24 November 1917 and is buried in the Cite Bonjean Military Cemetery, Armentieres, France.
