Frank Young joined the Regiment in 1931, and after his recruit training was posted to the 1st Battalion. He remained with this Battalion until November, 1939, when he joined the 7th Battalion. He served with this Battalion in North Africa and Italy where he was taken prisoner in July 1943. He remained a prisoner until April 1945, when he repatriated to U.K. After the war he joined the 1st Battalion in Colehester and proceeded with them to Hong Kong in June 1949. However, in May 1950, he returned home, taking over as R.S.M. of the 7th Battalion. He later was employed in East Africa and in the Far East, and finished his service at home in February 1960.
