The Government of Saint Lucia, specimen 10 Shillings, Castries, 1 October 1920, serial number A/1 00000, Wilfred Bennett Davidson-Houston and George Douglas Mackie signatures, perforated CANCELLED across denominations and portrait of King George V, small purple SPECIMEN stamp at lower right, ink numeral 246 at upper right corner, green on blue-grey obverse, light brown reverse showing coat of arms, the mountainous Pitons on the island, and a banner with Latin motto translating to ‘A Safe Harbour for Ships’, printer’s annotation, previously mounted, in PMG holder 55, about uncirculated, an astonishingly rare note in lovely condition from a country that represents one of the ‘holy grails’ of British Commonwealth collecting, the minor traces of previous mounting are not a distraction from an otherwise very appealing early example of De La Rue colonial banknote design, a fantastic opportunity to acquire a note that hasn’t been seen since its market debut almost a decade ago, sensational!
