1914 Star (Lieut. J. M. Tylee, 15/Hrs.), nearly extremely fine £80-100

Lieutenant Jervis Moore Tylee was killed in action whilst on reconnaissance duty near Mons on the 23rd August 1914 whilst serving with the 15th (King’s) Hussars. His name is commemorated on La Ferte-Sous-Jouarre Memorial, France. Sold with copied research detail, including picture from Bond of Sacrifice. An extract from the Regimental History states that Lieutenant Tylee was the first officer of the regiment to fall in battle during the Great War, and research sold with the lot suggests that Tylee was in fact the first British cavalry officer of any regiment to be killed.
