QUEEN'S SOUTH AFRICA 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Orange Free State, Defence of Mafeking, Transvaal (195 Tpr. M. Lukeet, Protect. Regt. F.F.) nearly very fine
Trooper Lukeet was wounded at Mafeking on 14 October, 1899. The encounter with the Boer forces on this day was the first real engagement of the siege which had begun just two days earlier. The casualties amounted to some 10 killed and 16 wounded but our armoured train had done great execution among the enemy.
