An M.M. for Italy awarded to Lance Naik Naranjan Singh, Royal Indian Engineers

M.M., London Gazette, 20th September, 1945: 'In recognition of gallant and distinguished services in Italy.' The following information was extracted from official sources:'Throughout the period during which his unit has been engaged in active operations, L./ Nk. Naranjan Singh has consistently set a very fine example of courage, leadership and devotion to duty. With complete disregard for personal safety he has on several occasions commanded mine clearing parties under fire with conspicuous success.On the night of 28th/29th January, he commanded a section which crossed the River Senio to construct an infantry bridge in very close proximity to the enemy. In extremely hazardous circumstances he led his section with great determination and completed his task in less than the scheduled time.This N.C.O. has been conspicuous for his fearless and devoted service.'Lance-Naik Naranjan Singh was serving with the 5th field company of the King's Own Bengal Sappers and Miners Group, Royal Indian Engineers.85 MM's to the Royal Indian Engineers, 1939-45.
