Byzantine. Palaeologid Dynasty, 13th-14th cent. Gold hyperperon, the Virgin within walls of Constantinople, reverse Christ crowning two emperors (the consignor hopes they are John V & John VI, but we fear Andronicus II and Michael IX is more likely). Heavily chipped, about very fine (£30-40)
