'Bronze Marine Medal and Certificate of Thanks each to Alfred Matthew Quirk and Harry Stroud, and Certificate of Thanks and 2 to George Hector McKinnon, for having rescued a boy from drowning in the River Mersey at New Brighton, on the 6th July, 1941.'
