M.M. London Gazette 26 May, 1917. The regimental history notes that his name was placed on record in the Regimental War Diary for conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty during the Monchy operations, April, 1917. He served in France with the Essex Yeomanry from 30 November, 1914. Only 17 Military Medals to the Essex Yeomanry, and a further five to members serving with other units.
