A patrol of half company was suddenly attacked in camp by a superior enemy force with great violence. The O.C. patrol was killed immediately, the next senior officer wounded and later killed. Lieut. Davies repulsed the first and a subsequent attack inflicting heavy casualties and was conspicuous for his gallantry and contempt of danger, his example largely contributing to the enemy’s failure. He has constantly distinguished himself under fire.’
