Guy Jefferys Hornsby-Wright was educated at Eastbourne College; University College, London; Emmanuel College, Cambridge. He was Assistant Master at Felstead School (House Master and Senior Master of Army Side) from 1897 to 1926; Fellow and Secretary of Emmanuel College, Cambridge and Secretary of the board of Military studies at Cambridge University, 1926-38. He served in the Great War, commanding 2/5th Essex Regiment and, in France, the 15th Bn. Essex Regiment. For his services he was twice mentioned in despatches and awarded the D.S.O.
