M.C., London Gazette, 22nd September, 1916, Lieutenant Arthur Harry Phillips, 0. & B LI. 'For conspicuous gallantry during operations. He went out into 'No Man's Land' to reconnoitre and rally men under very heavy shrapnel and machine-gun fire. He showed great coolness and brought back valuable information.'
