26th FOOT REGIMENTAL MEDAL 1823, silver (Sergt. Edwd. Kenny, 26th Regt.) some slight edge bruising, otherwise very fine and scarce

Edward Kenny served in the 26th Regiment from 14th May, 1805, until he was discharged on 24th June, 1826, being worn out from age and length of service. His papers note that his general conduct had been 'Unexeptionable', the highest recommendation in the scale of character then in use by the regiment. He served with the Battalion in Germany in 1805; in Spain in 1808-9, being present at the battle of Corunna; in Walcheren in 1809, being present at the siege of Flushing; and in Portugal in 1811 & 12. He also received the M.G.S. with clasp for Corunna which, in pair with the above medal, was sold by Wallis & Wallis in 1974. Ex Cheylesmore Collection.
