Long before setting up Buckland Dix and Wood, the forerunner to Noonans, in 1990, Nimrod spent many years in the medal departments of both Spink and Stanley Gibbons. When Stanley Gibbons moved to focus on its core stamp business in the early 1980s, Nimrod purchased the medal division, laying the groundwork for his establishment of Buckland Dix and Wood.
In 1991, an early sale at the new auction house set a new world record for a single-owner medal collection, a tribute to Nimrod’s specialist knowledge and an indication of the company’s growth potential. Since then, Nimrod and his team has steered the company to become the UK’s leading auctioneer of medals and militaria.
