Frederick Evans was born in Westminster, Middlesex on 28 September 1871. He joined the Metropolitan Fire Brigade as a Fireman Fourth Class in April 1893 after previously serving in the Merchant Navy. Appointed Station Officer at Hammersmith in March 1910, he went on to serve as Station Officer at North End Road, Herne Hill, Scotland Yard and Foxley Road before his death in Colindale Hospital on 23 November 1920.
