Three: Private F. Jefferson, West Yorkshire Regiment, who was wounded in September 1914, and was killed in action on the Western Front on 13 October 1915

Frank Jefferson was born in Haxby, Yorkshire in 1883 and attested for the West Yorkshire Regiment at Selby, Yorkshire, having worked for five years as a Carman in the Great Western Railway Goods Department at Birmingham. He served with the 1st Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 8 September 1914, and was admitted to the 4th Stationary Hospital with a gun-shot wound to his left wrist on 23 September 1914 immediately following his battalion’s participation in the Battle of the Aisne. Recovering, he was subsequently killed in action on 13 October 1915, and is buried in Potijze Burial Ground Cemetery, Belgium.
