A Victoria Faithful Service Medal pair to Mr. H. A. Manning, 2nd Master Cook

Victoria Faithful Service Medal, silver, reverse officially engraved ‘To Mr Henry Arthur Manning 2nd Master Cook, For Faithful Services to the Queen during 29 years, 1898’, edge embossed ‘Presented by Queen Victoria 1872’, completed with original tartan ribbon; Jubilee 1887, silver, with 1897 clasp, unnamed as issued, mounted for wear, generally good very fine (2) £700-900

Henry Arthur Manning was born in 1854 and entered the service of H.M. Queen Victoria in 1869. He was listed firstly as Kitchen Apprentice, then as Assistant Cook in 1876, 2nd Yeoman of the Kitchen in 1881, 1st Yeoman in 1882, 4th Master Cook in 1888, 3rd Master Cook in 1889, 2nd Master Cook in 1892, and was pensioned in 1901. He died at 1 Dorset Road, Windsor, in July 1913, and was cremated at Woking Crematorium.

Believed to have been one time sold at Spink, when as a group of three including the Siam - King Chulalongkorn Rajaaruchi Medal in silver.
