Three: Lance-Corporal A. G. Davies, 11th Hussars

Archibald George Davies was born in Barry, Glamorgan, in 1895 and attested for the 11th Hussars on 4 September 1914. He served with the Regiment during the Great War on the Western Front from 17 October 1915. Transferring to the 3rd Battalion, York and Lancaster Regiment, he joined his unit in Gallipoli on 5 December 1915, but was evacuated on 20 December, and was admitted to hospital at Kephalos on 25 January 1916. He rejoined his battalion at Imbros, and arrived in Egypt on 3 February 1916. Posted to the Horse Transport department in March 1916, he was promoted Lance Corporal in September of that year, and was discharged on 28 January 1919.
