Three: Private E. Widmer, Dorsetshire Regiment, killed in action at St. Julien during the Second Battle of Ypres, 2 May 1915, aged just 16

Eric Widmer was born in Manchester and attested for the Dorsetshire Regiment at Stratford, Essex. He served with the 1st Battalion during the Great War, and was killed in action on the Western Front on 2 May 1915, aged just 16. On this day the Battalion was subjected to a heavy gas attack, at Hill 60, near St. Julien, during the Battle of Ypres, and 71 men of the Battalion were killed on this day, with many more following on subsequent days. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
