Arthur Meyer Solomon was born on 15 May 1884. He joined the London University O.T.C. as a Cadet, receiving a commission into the 10th London Regiment, with whom he served during the Great War in Gallipoli and Egypt, before being invalided home on 5 November 1915 suffering from Para Typhoid. After recovering he was sent to France on attachment to the 1/19th London Regiment, with whom he was killed in action at Rocquigny on 24 March 1918 during the German Spring Offensive. His name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial. In civilian life he was a stockbroker and ran the Jewish Boys Club in Stepney Green. A photograph of Solomon appears in the British Jewry Book of Honour.
