Thomas Aitken Nicholson, a native of Edinburgh, was born in Moffat, Dumfriesshire, and attested for the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders at Edinburgh. He served with the 5th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front, was awarded the Military Medal, and was killed in action on 1 October 1918. He is buried in Oosttaverne Wood Cemetery, Wytschaete, Belgium.
