Provenance: J.D. Brand Collection [from Spink 1973 and originating from an unspecified French hoard].

William was replaced as moneyer in 1180 by Alan, who minted the Short Cross coinage throughout the remainder of the reign of Henry II, Richard and into the reign of John. Tomas was the moneyer for the Short Cross recoinage of 1205
