A late Victorian half pearl and diamond foliate fringe necklace, the line of graduated flowerhead links with foliate and scroll drops below, set throughout with half pearls, each flowerhead centred with an old brilliant-cut diamond, gold mounted, to a two row belcher-link back chain, spaced with pearls (untested), in original fitted case, signed ‘Edwards & Son, Buchanan Street, Glasgow’, together with a similar foliate brooch set with half pearls, necklace length 38cm, total diamond weight approximately 0.75 carats. £1,000-£1,500

George Edward & Sons were Jewellers and Silversmiths, established in Glasgow in 1838. The were awarded Royal Warrants as makers to the Queen, the Prince of Wales and the Admiralty. Around 1874 the firm opened a London branch at Mansion House Buildings, 19 Poultry, Cheapside. In the late 20th century it was sold to Mappin & Webb Ltd.
