Charles I (1625-1649), York mint, Halfcrown, Gp 2 [type 7], mm. lion, horse with tail between legs, ebor below, crowned oval shield, tiny inverted e to right of crown, 14.25g/12h (Bull 557; Besly 2B; SCBI Brooker 1088A; N 2315; S 2869). Small flan defect at 9 o’clock, otherwise very fine or a little better £600-£800

The vendor’s ticket states ‘Lockett 2372’. Comparison with the illustration in the Lockett sale catalogue clearly demonstrates that it is not this coin and such a ticket should be correctly allied to
SCBI Brooker 1088a
