Elizabeth I (1558-1603), Miscellaneous, Jetons and counters: Anglophile issues (4), portcullis type (3), crowned portcullis, revs. rampant lion, 2.28g/12h (M 4696; N 2064; MI I, 123/67), double-headed eagle, 1.87g/6h (M 4698; N 2061; MI I, 123/66), Tudor rose, 1584, 2.44g/12h (M 4699); crowned French shield, rev. crowned double-headed eagle, 2.74g/12h (M 4701; MI I, 123/65) [4]. Last fine but pockmarked, others in varied state, third very rare but edge damaged £80-£100

Provenance: First two Spink Auction 102, 2 March 1994, lots 747, 748; third found in the R. Thames at St Saviour’s Dock, bt C.H. Comber May 1993; last found in the R. Thames near Southwark Bridge, bt C.H. Comber November 1999
