Provenance: Bt T. Millett September 2005.

George Augustus Frederick, later George IV (1762-1830); Prince of Wales 1762-1811; Prince Regent 1811-20; King 1820-30. The Prince Regent was at the height of his unpopularity at the time he received this medal, his daughter having recently died in childbirth and he had long been separated from Queen Caroline. The Hanover Square Rooms were acquired by Sir John Gallini in 1774 and converted into a venue for concerts, the first of which was staged in February 1775. It remained one of London’s principal concert venues until closure in 1874
