John Young died on active service in the cruiser H.M.S. Nigeria in the Far East on 20 July 1945, which ship had recently won Battle Honours for Sabang 1944 and Burma 1944-45. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial; the above described forwarding box is addressed to his widow, ‘Mrs. A. H. Young, 63 Bread Street, Edinburgh, Scotland’.
